Hi
Bob and Aaron,
I just happened to see your Ad in the paper this morning and found your website.
I thought you might like to see the charmed life of K-Lee from Winnie - 1996.
K-Lee has now been "retired" in style in B.C. since 2004. She has truly lived a
charmed and wonderful life, and even at the age of 11, she is full of mischief,
high energy, healthy as ever and is an outdoor adventurer. She has travelled
thousands of miles with me in the car (a convertible PT Cruiser) and has learned
to love camping in the tent, hiking in the mountains, swimming in the ocean,
running in the forest and on the beach and visits Montana every year to stay at
her "Aunt's" Log Cabin in the mountains. She has been an AWESOME companion,
friend, guard dog and my little Angel for her entire life. Everyone is
absolutely amazed at her calm and very obedient character - especially when she
understands me when talking to her in sentences. She has great communication
skills. Her most famous trick is when she does her full routine - sit, shake
right with a Hi 5, shake left with a Low 5, sit up, down, "Bang" ( Dead dog) and
Roll over, while I hold one treat in my hand. She figured that one out all on
her own. She also loves my grandchildren - 2, 8 and 10. She is also one of the
few dogs that are allowed in my Mom's retirement residence because everyone
loves her and she is very calm and loving with all seniors. I have been so
blessed to have her in my life.
A story I must share. In 1999, my Dad went into the Alhzeimer unit. It was a
very difficult time for our family as we watched him deteriorate. He was with me
when I picked K-Lee up from you, and fell madly in love with her and her with
him. She always came to the Hospital with me and he would take her leash and
take her for a "walk" up and down the hallway. She never pulled or misbehaved
for a second with him and always stopped to greet the other men in the ward so
that they could pat her. Once Dad was in a wheelchair, she would place her front
paws on his lap and stand quietly beside him as long as he wanted to pat her. It
was almost spiritual to watch them together. She was only 3 at the time and very
lively, but she instinctively knew how to behave with him - with no direction
from me. One of my last fondest memories was the day that Dad grabbed her leash,
lifted his legs off the floor and let K-Lee pull him down the hall - Dad with a
Big Grin on his face and yelling "Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee" all the way down the hall -
me racing to catch up before they hit the end wall!! Then we'd turn him around
and off they'd go again. It was a wonderful memory. Another Angel moment for
K-Lee.
She is loved by all, but her favourites are my son and my grandson. She does not
like "Bow Thing" in her hair and looks rather disgusted with them in the pics.
Needless to say, they are removed very quickly. She is an Adventurer like her
Mom, not a Glamour Girl!!
I can't thank you enough for this Awesome and Amazing Fur Daughter. She has got
me through many difficult times in the last 11 years - the loss of my Dad, my
son's Brain Cancer (he's now fine) - his wife's Breast Cancer (she's now fine) -
plus caregiving a difficult senior Mom. She is the highlight of my Mom's Day
when we visit and is allowed Digestive Cookies, only from her.
K-Lee just walked in the office with a nose nudge to say hello to you and your
family. She posed for an up to date photo shot which I'll send in a separate
email.
I
trust this finds you all healthy and well and enjoying life with your Wheatens
and their Friends.
Take care,
Jo-Ann
